3. You must obtain the consent of a parent or guardian to enter the competition, and that parent or guardian must sign the entry form.

4. By entering this competition you are accepting these terms and conditions, and we may reject or disqualify any entrant that does not comply with them.

Participation Guidelines

7. All inventions submitted must be original (i.e. you must not have used someone else’s idea or copied someone else’s invention), and must have been invented by the participant named on the entry form.

8. If we select you to appear on the Series you will make yourself and your invention available for the production of the Series at such times designated by us and for any publicity relating to the Series, at no cost to us.

10. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence shall be entered into.

11. We may publish or broadcast in any media details of any winners or finalists, who must make themselves available for such publicity, as we reasonably require.

Rights in your invention

12 Your invention idea may be valuable, and may be patent able or protectable under intellectual property laws. We are not responsible for patenting your invention and if you want to obtain such protection for it you should do so before the series goes to air. (For a brief summary of intellectual property laws, please refer to the IP page on the IPONZ website). If you have any concerns at all about intellectual property laws we recommend that you speak to a patent attorney. If you think your idea is unique please keep it to yourself until we have consulted with A J Park and responded with their opinion. Keep your idea to yourself. If you tell people about your idea they could use it and you run the risk of losing your idea.

13 If the idea submitted is your original concept, you shall at all times retain all intellectual property rights in your invention.

14 We shall have the right to make a working prototype of your invention and to display your invention on the Series, in public, on the Internet and in any other media we determine for publicity purposes. However, before the Series goes to air we will endeavor to maintain the secrecy of your invention, and we will have all mentors and judges involved with the Series sign secrecy agreements with us. However, you acknowledge that neither we nor anyone else involved in the production or promotion of the Series shall be responsible to you for any failure to maintain such secrecy, or for the loss of any protections or rights under any intellectual property laws arising as a result of such failure or the Series or any related publicity.

15 If we wish to publicise your invention before the Series goes to air we will contact you first to obtain your permission.

Thank you and good luck with your invention. Kids have the best ideas in the world and you can help us prove it.
